McGill University Libraries regularly offer free workshop sessions designed to help students build essential academic skills.
The workshops cover research strategies, database navigation, academic writing techniques, academic citation guidance, and much more.
They are typically led by librarians and are structured to be practical and easy to follow, even for students who are new to academic research. Many sessions focus on common challenges, such as how to find reliable sources, how to use databases efficiently, or how to properly format citations in styles like APA. Others introduce tools like EndNote, which can help manage references and streamline the writing process.
These workshops run throughout the semester and are usually short in length, making them easy to fit into a student’s schedule. They can be especially useful before major assignments, when students are expected to conduct research and present their work according to specific academic standards.
